Guarantee Agreement

• Definition

  • If IBRD makes a loan to an entity other than the member country concerned, it enters into a Guarantee Agreement with the member, which sets forth the member's contractual obligations as guarantor. Additional undertakings made by the guarantor to facilitate the achievement of the loan's purposes are set forth in the Guarantee Agreement. Do not confuse with MIGA Guarantee Agreement (GUA).
